General Entry Rules
- Only full members of Episcopal Communicators during the calendar year 2011 may submit entries.
- Only original material produced/published between Jan 1 & Dec 31, 2011 is eligible.
- Materials submitted must represent work for which the entrant had primary responsibility. (If you feel the need to include your design firm on the submitters list, please consider whether you as the Episcopal Communicator did have primary responsibility for the entry. Remember that you can submit design and content separately if this is a concern.)
- Members may submit up to three entries per category.
- In certain cases, a piece may be entered in more than one category, but a separate copy of the entry form and entry fee is required for each category entered. For instance, a news writing submission may also be a part of a photo package submission. Writing submissions may only be entered in one writing category.
- Freelancers who are members in good standing of Episcopal Communicators are encouraged to enter the contest. It is the freelancer’s responsibility to ensure that there are no duplicate category entries by the writer and the publication. In the event that both the publication and the freelancer enter the same piece in the same category, only the publication’s entry will be eligible.
Awards
The top award in each category is the Award of Excellence. Second place is the Award of Merit. Third is Honorable Mention. For a category to be judged, at least three entries from three different individuals or organizations must be submitted. If a category does not meet these criteria, then the submissions and entry checks will be returned, and no awards will be given in that category for the year. Judges are recruited from a multi-talented pool of writers, editors, marketing executives, photographers, web developers and designers from the media, academia, and beyond.
