Are you currently working in the ministry of communications in the body of the Episcopal Church? Do you edit, design graphics, create interesting layouts, write, take pictures, oversee video, record audio, organize social network groups, update a website, and also manage to encourage parishioners, vestries, clergy and bishops on a daily basis? Then you are part of an exciting and growing community of Episcopal Communicators! 

 

 

What do we do?

First, we work together and encourage one another as the body of Christ. "Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, 'Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, 'Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body." ~ 1 Corinthinans 12:14-16

Second, we network with one another. Using personal e-mail, our ECTALK listserve, and face to face connections through our annual conference and other Episcopal events, we bounce ideas off one another and ask about resources in communications. Many times a question will be asked on the listserve and a number of replies will come floating back with hyperlinked answers.

Third, our vision is to spread the Good News. We see our positions as ministries, our computers as tools, our creative designs as means to spark spiritual growth and renewal.

Last but not least, Episcopal Communicators sponsors an annual conference that offers members: Professional skills development; insights on church issues; spiritual growth; fellowship and leisure activities; networking with communicators from around the U.S. and beyond. Our 2012 conference is March 20-23rd at Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Full membership is open to those with ministry in communications within the Episcopal Church at the national, regional, diocesan, or congregational level. Only full members may submit Polly Bond award entries, vote, and hold office within the organization. Annual dues are $80.00 for 2011. New members may join at any time during the year; all memberships run from January 1 to December 31.

Associate membership is open to those with an interest in Episcopal communications. Annual dues are $40.00 for 2011. New members may join at any time during the year; all memberships run from January 1 to December 31.

Once payment has been received and we have your information in the database, you will be added to the ECTALK listserve and are encouraged to introduce yourself. Through the listserve you will be notified of upcoming conferences.

Renewing your membership

Episcopal Communicator memberships run January 1 to December 31 of each year. Members may begin to renew their memberships in mid-December using the 2012 Membership form (to be posted by December 15, 2011.) Questions? Contact Richelle Thompson at Richelle Thompson
