Day 1: Extending Your Digital Reach
(Workshop descriptions subject to change)

Level: All Levels
From search engines to social platforms, email newsletters to op-eds — this day is all about sharpening your tools and expanding your digital voice. Each session offers a different avenue to reach more people with clarity, purpose and joy.

*All times ET

Session 1 (12:00 - 12:50 p.m.): Make Friends with the Algorithm — SEO for Church Communicators

Search engines are how many people find their way to you, and search engine optimization (SEO) is what puts you on top of the search results. This session offers a friendly introduction to SEO — what it is, why it matters, how it’s built, and how to make small, consistent changes that help your site show up when people are searching for hope, community and connection.

Session 2 (1:00 - 1:50 p.m.): Social Media with Purpose — Strategy to Build Reach & Engagement

If social media feels overwhelming or like a time sink, you're not alone. Learn how to create a thoughtful social media strategy rooted in mission and audience — while keeping up with the latest trends to maximize reach and engagement. We’ll explore content planning, platform tips, and ideas for engaging your community with consistency and care.

BREAK: 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.

Session 3 (2:30 - 3:20 p.m.): Email that Connects & Newsletters People Want to Open

In a crowded digital world, direct message delivery, whether in the form of email or newsletters, still works — when it’s done well. This session will help you craft subject lines that spark interest, curate content that resonates, and choose tools that fit your workflow. Whether you use Mailchimp, Constant Contact or another platform, this session will help you get the most from it.

Session 4 (3:30-4:20 p.m.): Beyond the Pews — Sharing Your Story through External Media

Never before have there been more external media options through which to share your story. Traditional news media, blogs, podcasts, video channels and more, all provide opportunities to share your message with external audiences. In this session, members of The Episcopal Church communications team share real-world examples of Episcopal communicators lifting their message to the public square — and how you can, too.
