Day 2: AI in Church Communications
(Workshop descriptions subject to change)
Level: All Levels
AI isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a fast-moving set of tools and questions that communicators are already navigating. This day will help you build a solid foundation: what AI is, how to use it responsibly, how to build a policy for your organization, and how to spot what’s human and what’s not.
Session 1 (12:00 - 12:50 p.m.): Getting Started with AI — Tools to Amplify Your Message
Whether you’re new to artificial intelligence or already testing the waters, this session offers a hands-on look at how AI can support content creation across writing, design and more. Learn how tools like ChatGPT, Canva Magic and others can save time while helping you tell your story with creativity and clarity.
Session 2 (1:00 - 1:30 p.m.): What’s Legal? What’s Right? — Ethics & AI in Ministry
As AI tools grow more powerful, so do the ethical and legal questions surrounding their use. This session will explore the ethical issues around AI, including copyright, authorship, misinformation and bias — and help you think critically about how to use AI with integrity.
BREAK: 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.
Session 3 (2:30 - 3:20 p.m.): Setting the Guardrails — Creating an AI Policy for Your Organization
Before AI use becomes the Wild West in your workplace, it helps to have a policy. This session walks you through the basics of writing an internal AI policy — one that protects your people, supports your values, and helps clarify when and how AI tools should (or shouldn’t) be used.
Session 4 (3:30-4:20 p.m.): Real or AI? Learn to Spot the Difference
Can you tell if a photo was AI-generated? What about a sermon or a news story? How about video? In this interactive session, we’ll test your ability to recognize AI-created content — and offer practical tips to train your eye and ear. Great for communicators who want to stay sharp in a shifting landscape.
